Task 3

Production Process
Finding Assets

So since the topic I chose to dive deeper into was animation, I didn't want to waste too much time on creating my own character. So I decided to go on a search for assets elsewhere so I could strictly focus on animation. While searching I came across this video on YouTube.

In this video, made by Blender Guru, a supporter of his has sent in his attempt at modelling a teddy bear, asking for critiques. The videos creator shows how he would go about doing it himself. He has generously left the blender project file of his recreation in the description of videos for anyone who wants to learn from it or further improve on his one. This is a perfect model for me to rig and animate because it the rig  doesn't need to be too complex, as it is only teddy bear, however it will also allow me to learn the basics of rigging. The model itself is also very high quality and detail considering he has released it completely free.

Rigging the Teddy bear

Here is the start of skeleton of the teddy bear. It is fairly simple as I am still learning the basics. It is also not yet connected to the character yet, as I am still working out the final tweaks that are needed to make the skeleton work correctly. However the process has gone well so far, no complicated obstacles have crossed my path yet. One common problem I see when others are rigging is parts of the mesh intersecting with each other, something that will most likely happen to me because this is my first time.

The rig is now connected to the teddy bear.
