Task 1

SWOT Analysis:

Strengths - I am very familiar with the 3D playing field (3D modelling, texturing etc). My preferred program is Blender however I have lightly used Cinema 4D and Maya in the past. I do a good job navigating the Blender software, however I am a fast learner so I could adapt to other software quickly. When it comes to working independently, I am able to create pretty good work. I have a high amount of interest for the creative process (whether its 2D or 3D) so I find it easy to stay focused on the task at hand once I've started it. Because of my knowledge of software and my ability to focus, I'd say I am able to create fairly good quality work. I am also good at evidencing myself doing the work for the course. My practical work evidence was what stood out the most on last years project.

Weaknesses - My use of 2D software, such as After Effects has slowly shorten in the past few months due to my increased focus on 3D. Using a program like After Effects could be useful for compositing. Furthermore, I've always had trouble evidencing planning and evidencing my research for a project. I always end up getting too focused on actually creating the project. This is what held my grade back to a Merit instead of a Distinction in the first year of college. I've always preferred to go with the flow with most projects, however this is not a good way to work when making long animations or creating a large detailed model. This is something I need to work on for the sake of the course and my future.

Opportunities:

- Go to university to further my knowledge in 3D to go into the industry as a full 3D generalist
- Go to university to further my knowledge in 3D to go into the industry with a specialized role.
- Go to university to further my knowledge in 2D to go into the industry as a full media generalist. This is the most versatile option.

- Do an apprenticeship at a studio.

- Go straight into freelance.

Threats - The way I work on projects at the moment is not very professional and would not work in a studio or university environment. It will also affect the grade I get for the second year, so if I don't start evidencing more then I might not get the grade I want, which will restrict my options.
